Time to Breathe: Dovedale - Peak District -

Description

Dovedale is a picturesque valley in the Peak District National Park. Located in the white peak area it is part of the National Trust’s estate and lies between the villages of Ilam and Hartington. The River Dove runs through the dale and flows through the iconic stepping stones used to cross the river.

We meet in the morning for introductions and Dave will be giving a session on mindset and dealing with challenges. This will help us deal with the challenges we face on the day and give us skills to deal with the challenges we face on a daily basis.

Then we’ll head into and up Dovedale valley with a few twists and turns on the way. There will be plenty of time to talk, think and enjoy the views as we make our way up the valley.

This is no normal weekend meander up the valley and back, it’s quite a long 12-mile walk with twists and turns along the way. On our return after lunch, we take a more challenging route high above the valley before returning down to the river.

When we are all back, Dave will take another session over some food and drinks. He’ll help you look at the challenges that have faced us together in a more reflective manner while also identifying life lessons learned from these experiences- both big ones as well as small moments of wisdom gained along the way!

What’s included?

  • Two guides – one a life long mountaineer, the other a mental health coach
  • A scenic walk in the beautiful Peak District National Park
  • Guided sessions to reflect and de-stress
  • Physical activity that links to and reinforces positive mental health
  • A workbook full of life lessons and learning to help you in the future
  • Learn coping mechanisms to help in the future
  • Debrief over drinks and food to reflect on the days experiences

Could I do this walk on my own?

Dovedale is quite a safe place to walk so it’s true that you could probably turn up and do a similar walk on your own. I’d actively encourage you to go so, get out as much as you can.

This is more than a walk, it’s not so much about the physical journey we take, it’s a journey of discovery and reflection and taking time out of our lives and sharing experiences together.

Dave and Rich are your guides in every sense of the meaning during this voyage. Helping you to overcome challenges and relate the physical to the metaphysical.

It’s going to be a fantastic day of discovery, not your normal weekend stroll.

During the workshop, Dave will support you with individual challenges you may have as well as offering strategies on how to avoid too much stress and burnout.

Rich Amor-Wilkes –  point5.tv

Time to Breathe: Dovedale - Peak District -When Rich was just 2 years old, he embarked on his first hillwalking adventure with his dad. The young adventurer never looked back after these early beginnings – going on trips across Snowdonia as well learning rock climbing while still at school.

In his early 20’s Rich joined a mountaineering club and traveled the world in the pursuit of mountaineering challenges in Spain, the Alps, and the Himalayas. They say travel broadens the mind and these trips gave Rich a unique and grounded perspective to life back home.

Now a qualified Mountain Leader Rich takes his clients on walks ranging from easy relaxing day trips to strenuous endurance events such as the Three Peaks Challenge. He also runs navigation courses to teach people how to find themselves.
