Taken from a series on how to navigate, this compass tip can save you in low visibility navigation. Measuring slope aspect (which way a slope faces) is sometime all you have got to use. On a hill side, at nigh or in fog, it's easy to get lost and come down on the wrong side of the hill. Think you're tough enough to take on North Ridge of Tryfan? This video tutorial might make you think again! In it, I'll show you the best way to tackle this notoriously difficult scramble in Snowdonia. With a bit of careful planning and some basic scrambling skills, you'll be up there like a pro in no time. The east face and Milestone Buttress are popular with rock climbers but today I followed the north ridge, taking the more challenging route to the summit, where Adam and Eve stand. They are the two rocky pinnacles that stand watch over the Ogwen valley. Today we're doing a tree dismantle of a diseased Horse Chestnut. This involves climbing and dismantling the tree branch by branch. Episode 3 of Tree Surgeon Diaries Today Nick (https://lichfieldtreeworks.co.uk) and I are in Mere Green in Sutton Coldfield working on a TPO protected Oak Tree. TPOs are legal protections placed on trees and you MUST get consent from the local council before you do any work to avoid heavy fines. We were granted permission to crown lift this tree to allow more light under the canopy.
