When planning your hike in Wales, be sure to consider the difficulty level and length of the trail. If you’re a beginner, it might be best to start with an easy trail that’s not too long. Snowdonia is a great place to start, as there are plenty of trails that are suitable for beginners and advanced walkers alike. Wales is also home to some amazing scenery on well-trodden paths.

The Three Peaks Challenge is one such example, which involves climbing the highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland respectively. While the paths are easy to follow in good weather doing the challenge in 24 hours is a physically difficult undertaking.

Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England and is located in the Lake district. Standing at 978 metres it’s the smallest of the Three Peaks Challenge but it’s always the second one participants climb.

Snowdon/ Yr Wyddfa is the highest peak Wales at 1085m. It’s usually the last peak people climb on the 3 peaks challenge and you can often see participants running down the mountain to try and complete the 3 peaks challenge within the 24-hour time limit.

There are actually quite a few routes up Snowdon, here are the best 6 routes to reach the summit of Snowdon.

Ben Nevis is not only the highest peak in Scotland it’s the highest in the UK at 1345m above sea level. Standing on the summit makes you the highest person in the country.

For those who want to take it at a more leisurely pace, The Three Peaks Challenge can be done over 3 days or in the case of my uncle 3 decades!

However long it takes you make sure you enjoy it!
